We offer study-related language courses during the semester at various levels of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR) with a scope of 2, 4 or 8 semester hours per week (SWS).
In addition, four-week compact courses are held several times a year in preparation for the digital TestDaF.

Change course
You only register for the course that corresponds to your language level and for which you have time. It is therefore not possible to change courses at a later date.
Course period
Winter semester 2025/26: 03.11.2025 - 20.02.2026
The vacations and public holidays of the regular lecture period at KIT apply.
Proof of performance
ECTS points are awarded for
- active participation
- successful written exam at the end of the course.
How do I register?
Before registering, you must complete an assessment. Registration takes place exclusively online.
Inspection
You can request a possible inspection of your exam in writing up to 4 weeks after notification of the result at the latest by sending an email to:

- Thursday, October 23, 2025 online via Campus+; places will be allocated on Friday, October 24, 2025.
- Automatic admission from the waiting list until Friday, November 7, 2025

Fees
- KIT charges fees for participation in German language courses. Please refer to the course description for the amount.
- International students enrolled at KIT are exempt from paying fees for one German course per semester.
- Registration is binding and the course fee is due before the start of the respective German course.
- With the application/registration you accept the general rules of the Studienkolleg.

- Placement: Online placement from A1.2 or Transcript of Records or corresponding certificatefrom the Studienkolleg (KIT)
- You will find the link to the online placement test in the course description in the course overview. Please allow cookies and confirm the link in your browser.
- Online registration via Campus+
Note on the costs
- International students at KIT are exempt from paying fees for one German course per semester.
- Employees and their partners must pay the course fee.
Waiting list
If places become available after the draw and participants from the waiting list can move up, you will receive a notification by e-mail.
Refund of fees
In the event of withdrawal before the start of the respective German course, any course fees already paid will be refunded if a written declaration of withdrawal is received by the Studienkolleg office no later than 10 days before the start of the respective course.
